Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma from the department of English Literature. Mitchell started as reporter for TV and radio within Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). She became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. Since 1981 she started reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was promoted to chief reporter for the congressional section. Then she was named chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist as well as host. Mitchell was on the panel at the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories including arms control, tax reforms to the budget and also the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went on many summits with the help of the president Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
